Out of the city, less than an hour from your door: open wild forest with trails, creeks and meadows, and natural water to swim in. About six hours outdoors, with a Garmin GPS on her collar all day and photos the same day.
Is off-leash hiking legal near Edgewater?
Not in the public parks. In New Jersey state parks and forests a dog must stay on a leash no longer than six feet (N.J.A.C. 7:2-2.8(c)), and local parks set their own leash rules. So we do not let dogs off the leash in the parks around Edgewater. Off the leash happens only out in remote wild country with no people around, on a Garmin GPS collar with a radio link, after we have assessed your dog. Anywhere near people, she is on a leash.
